Nationwide cases of connecting social media-base were transferred to Supreme

New Delhi, Oct 22, 2019, Tuesday

A petition has been filed in various courts across the country on whether to connect the social media account with Aadhaar Today, the Supreme Court has taken such petitions from various High Courts in the country. That is, such cases will now run in the Supreme.

Facebook itself had applied to the Supreme Court asking that all the courts of the country be tried for linking social media accounts with Aadhaar. In that case, if the Supreme Court itself takes the case into its own hands, whatever the verdict may be, the same can be applied to the whole country. So the Supreme Court took the case into its own hands.

The trial, however, will take place in the last week of January. Because at the request of the government now, the Supreme Court has given the government three months time, in which the government has to prepare its own laws on social media.

The government wants the social media account to connect with Aadhaar. So in time to know who has a social media account with a fake name or an unrecognizable name.

The government has also notified Facebook for this. A petition is being filed against him in various courts. Applicants say that connecting social media with Aadhaar will breach people's privacy. The government wants to slap people's freedom through this rule.

In the Supreme today, Attorney General KK Venugopal had said that the government does not want to diminish anyone's independence. But it should also be understood that terrorists have no freedom. And the government wants to tackle the terrorist and anti-national elements that are active on social media.

That is why the government wants to know people's WhatsApp chat and Facebook chat and activities. The government can only know the movement if social media companies provide it. The Supreme Court will also determine whether that information should be provided after the hearing is set to begin in January.

The debate over how to overcome, how to overcome the Internet and social media has been going on for months across the country. But there is no proper policy in India for this. The Supreme Court has given 3 months time to prepare the policy and rules.
