71 former bureaucrats have written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi against four former finance ministry officials in the INX case, claiming that four officers are being targeted.

He also claimed in the letter that such action would discourage diligent and honest officials from making important decisions.

71 former bureaucrats, including former National Security Advisor Shivshankar Menon, former Punjab DGP Julio Ribeiro, have signed a letter to the Prime Minister. He demanded that no case file should be reopened after a reasonable time limit.

Former bureaucrats also expressed concern over 'targeting' retired, functioning officers for short political gains. Last month, the government allowed the CBI to prosecute former Commissioner of Industries Commission Sindhu Shri Khullar and others in connection with allowing FIPB in the INX media case.

In addition to the openings in the INX media case, the government has appointed Anup K. K, former secretary of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. The priest also allowed to prosecute Prabodh Saxena, the then director in the finance ministry and former Under Secretary Rabindra Prasad in the Department of Economic Affairs, officials said.

The officials also lashed out at the government against the criminal proceedings against them by making officers 'victims of political salaries'. Former officials said that government bureaucrats are finding no protection for acts of vigor while performing their official duties.
