Farooq Abdulla detained again, his daughter in Safia Judicial custody

Former Union Minister and National Conference leader Dr Farooq Abdullah, who has been Chief Minister more than once in Jammu and Kashmir, was reported to be re-imprisoned. Their daughter, Safia, was taken into judicial custody.

Doctor Farooq Abdullah was in custody since the Central Government canceled the 370th Article giving special status to Jammu and Kashmir on August 5th. He was released last week. He was re-detained on Wednesday morning, October 16 morning.

Farooq, his daughter and his sister were newly detained after the demonstrations in Lalchok area. Various sanctions were imposed in the state for 72 consecutive days after the special status of the state was abolished. This was the first public appearance since sanctions were lifted.

Farooq Abdullah, his daughter Safiya, Farooq's sister Suraiya Abdullah, and Eve's wife Hawa Bashir, wife of former Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, were among those involved. All were detained by security forces. These people were protesting to demand the undoing of the state of Jammu and Kashmir and immediate release of the prisoners in the state jails.
