Kathmandu, Ta. October 12, 2019, Saturday

A bus-laden bus was hit by a passenger bus in Sindhupal Chowk district of Nepal on Friday, leaving 14 people dead. In addition, about 100 passengers were injured in the tragedy and 67 seriously injured were shifted to Dhulikhel Hospital.

A bus carrying a passenger bus in Nepal lost control of the bus, leaving the bus 50 meters deep in the valley. The accident took place near the highway towards Kathmandu, the country's capital.

The accident took place when the people riding the bus were returning to Kathmandu celebrating the festival of Dashain, and six people died in the incident scene.

According to District Officer Goma Devi Chamjong, five others died on the way to the hospital and some died while undergoing treatment. With the condition of many passengers serious, the death toll is likely to rise.

The bus driver lost control of the vehicle near the curve and fell into the valley below. Police said the bus was carrying more passengers than its capacity, adding that there was a possibility of an accident due to a tire puncture.

Notably, accidents have become quite common on Nepal's highways. Accidents have increased in Nepal as highways are not being properly cared for.

During festivals, the bus is filled with more passengers than its capacity, and traffic is more on the roads, thus increasing the chances of accidents. The road to Kathmandu passes through the mountains and is considered susceptible to accidents due to multiple turns on the highway.
