Urmila Mantodakar quits Congress due to internal clashes

Mumbai, Ta. September 10, 2019, Tuesday

Film actress Urmila Mantodakar, who contested the Lok Sabha on a Congress ticket from North Mumbai, resigned from the Congress, accusing her of internal tension in the party. He said this in a letter to Mumbai Pradesh Congress President Milind Deora today.

It is worth mentioning that he started in national politics as a candidate for North Mumbai Lok Sabha. It is believed that Mantodkar's resignation before the state assembly elections will be affected. The factionalism that has been prevalent in the party was the main reason.

"Obviously the key office-bearers of the Mumbai Congress are neither competent nor committed to change in the party. They do not appear to be serious about reforming the party," he said in his statement to the media.

He further wrote that instead of achieving a bigger target in the Mumbai Congress, he is pulling himself inside the party and he uses me to do so. To work with such established interests bites my soul. He said that I was cheating in Congress.

Motondkar, who lost his election from North Mumbai against BJP's Gopal Shetty in the Lok Sabha, also wrote that he was not happy with the party. It is worth mentioning that Milind Deora also resigned from the post last week. He alleged that the complaint he had earlier made in the letter to Deora was not taken into account. He also questioned how the letter to the party president reached the media.
