Two IndiGo pilots suspended, DGCA takes decision

Hyderabad, Ta. September 6, 2019, Friday

Two Indigo pilots were suspended by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The duo flew from Hyderabad to Vijayawada on July 24 with take-off by tele-support at Hyderabad Airport.

After taking off the aircraft, the airport control tower immediately notified the pilots, which the pilots ignored. The suspension came into effect from July 24, the spokesman said.

A ritual called tail group or tail support is performed to fill the luggage on the plane or to push the aircraft back and forth. According to a DGCA official, both the pilots Captain Amit Bansal and Captain Bharat Saini were informed by the Airport Tower Control immediately after take-off that the tail group was still attached to your ATR72 aircraft. Instead of returning, the two aircraft were taken to Vijayawada.

The duo had earlier given a causal notice, in response to which both confessed that it was our fault, that we needed to return to the Hyderabad airport.
