Resigns to remove Article 370 from Kashmir: IAS Shashikant

Bangalore, Ta. September 8, 2019, Sunday

Another IAS officer has resigned in protest against the government's decision to abolish Article 3, which gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir. Karnataka's IAS officer S.K. Sashikant Senthil resigned on the charge that fundamental rights of democracy were being suppressed.

Sashikant Senthil, an IAS officer who served as deputy commissioner in Karnataka's southern Kannada district, resigned on Friday, accusing him of leaving the job because of incidents in the country.

He made it clear that the state government was not involved in his resignation and said that the structure of politics being imposed on the country was disappointing.

"It is unethical for them to hold on to their positions when they are being tampered with by the fundamentals of democracy, and they are resigning for their own personal reasons," said Senthil.

It is worth mentioning that in August, Kannan Gopinath, an IAS officer, also abdicated the privilege of Jammu and Kashmir and resigned as a violation of the fundamental rights of millions.

He is an IAS officer of Senthil-8 batch in Tamil Nadu and has described himself as a strong observer of politics. According to Senthil, people are becoming extremely nationalistic and cannot encourage intellectual debate.

Under these circumstances it is unethical for them to continue their work as a civil servant. He resigned because he needed to quit his job in order to do anything under these circumstances. At the same time, he made it clear that he did not aspire to get into electoral politics.
