One nation, one language can never become reality: Jayaram

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday declared Hindi as the official language, advocating 'one nation, one language' on Saturday. Since then there has been a controversy over the language in the country.

Now Jairam Ramesh has also criticized Amit Shah's statement and said that one nation, one language can never become a reality. On the other side, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had accused the BJP of deliberately disputing the language to divert people's attention from serious problems in the country, including the economic downturn.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Sunday said, "We may be one nation, one tax, but one nation, one language will never be." This will never become a reality. We are one nation, many languages. We are one nation, many countries.

Jairam Ramesh started addressing the Governor, Chief Minister and invited guests in English, Kannada and Hindi. He said that I can speak three languages in just a minute. This is just to give you a message. We may be a nation - a tax, a nation, an election, but under no circumstances can we be one nation, one culture, one nation one language.

On the other side, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that raising the dispute was a planned effort, to divert people's attention from the current serious problems facing the country. He described Amit Shah's statement as a declaration of war against the mother tongue of the non-Hindi speaking people.

The notion that Hindi can unite the nation is meaningless. In a post posted on Facebook, the Chief Minister wrote that Shah was not ready to withdraw from the Hindi agenda despite the protests in many places. This sign shows that the Sangh Parivar is preparing to open another movement.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday recommended Hindi as a common language for the country. Shah said that while the diversity of languages is the strength of India, there is a need for a national language in the present country so that foreign languages and culture cannot re-rule the country and for that, Hindi is the only language that can tie the nation together.

Southern states once again strongly opposed making Hindi the main language of the country. He says if the Hindi language is trying to 'impose' on them, they will protest furiously. However, following Amit Shah's statement, the Congress has taken a cautious stance on making Hindi an official language and did not immediately consider any comment appropriate.

Jairam Ramesh said there were many similarities between former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and Vishweshwaray. He added that these were excellent models of both intellectual integrity and financial prospects. Both of these values are currently at risk.

Ramesh said that Nehru, the creator of modern India, believed in the values of unity in liberal, liberal, representative democracy, sectarianism and diversity, as well as scientific approach and planned economic development and took these values forward. But today certain groups attack him daily and discredit him and his legacy.
