Government department chairperson in Goa depicts Parikar as CM

Panaji, Ta. September 6, 2019, Friday

The Goa government made a big mistake in a press note announcing the greetings to the people on the occasion of Teacher's Day and showed the late Manohar Parrikar as the Chief Minister of the state.

Goa's Information and Broadcasting Department has released a media statement to greet the people of Goa for the Teacher's Day. It showed the late Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar greeting people on the eve.

The circular said 'Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar wishes 56th Teacher's Day to the teacher class'. In addition, the contribution of former President Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan to the country was appreciated.

It may be mentioned that Radhakrishnan's birthday is celebrated as Teacher's Day, but due to such circular, the government department has faced criticism. Information and Broadcasting Department Director Meghna Shetgaonkar informed that an investigation was being conducted to find the erring officer.

He called such an error serious and assured that necessary action would be taken against the person concerned. It is noteworthy that Manohar Parrikar passed away on March 17, 2019 after a prolonged illness and Pramod Sawant has been taking over as the Chief Minister of the state.
