Chidambaram gets major blow: Supreme Court rejects bail, ED can arrest anytime

Former finance minister P Chidambaram, who was booked in the INX media case, was given a major blow by the Supreme Court this morning. His earlier bail application was rejected. Coincidentally, Chidambaram's custody granted to the CBI also ends today. The Supreme Court cancels the Enforcement Directorate's Chidambaram's INX case after canceling his anticipatory bail application.

The Supreme Court has said that the agency can interrogate Chidambaram and detain him. The Supreme Court also said that Chidambaram did not need to show what documents the ED had collected. The Supreme Court also said that you do not need to give a written copy of the question to the (ED) Chidambaram.

The CBI and the ED have told the court that they have enough documents to prove the allegation. According to the ED, 17 bank accounts of P Chidambaram's son Karti and his associates have been found. In addition, the accused has tried to dismiss the evidence. A dummy director was formed at Shell Companies, which is owned by the accused.

The whole issue is related to money laundering. Its director was Indrani Mukherjee, who is accused in the Sheena Bora murder case. In this case, Congress leader P.K. Chidambaram is under the jurisdiction of the investigating agencies for the alleged role of the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) in connection with the approval of Rs 305 crore.

Chidambaram's wife Nalini Chidambaram and son Karti Chidambaram were present during the hearing in the Supreme. Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Kapil Sibal were present as lawyers. Chidambaram's arrest was opposed in court. Importantly, Chidambaram has been in CBI custody since August 21. And the CBI is questioning them.
