CBI opposes Congress leader Chidambaram's bail

Congress leader P C in Delhi CBI's High Court in INX Media corruption case Opposing Chidambaram's bail, he said that this was a "heinous economic crime" and that he should not be relieved due to the seriousness of the financial downturn and misuse of high office.

In response to Chidambaram's bail plea, the CBI said that he should not be relieved given the seriousness of the crimes committed by the former finance minister as it would set a false example in all corruption cases. The CBI said that the case was a clear case of misuse of public funds at the wider level.

The CBI arrested him on August 7 from Chidambaram's Jorbagh residence. He is currently under judicial detention in Tihar Jail till October 1st. His bail application will be heard before Judge Suresh Kate on September 7. Chidambaram has denied the allegations leveled against him in the case and claimed that he was a victim of political enmity.

The agency said that there was a lot of evidence in this case against Congress leader Chidambaram and strong case was made by the agency against them. The facts of this case, the severity of the crime, the amount of monetary damages and the misuse of high positions do not make them entitled to relief from this court.
