Former Chairman of Gujarat Police Semi Shahid Badr was arrested in Azamgarh.
The current ban on the Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) exists. A Bhuj court has issued an arrest warrant against Shahid. Shahid was charged with sedition.
Azamgarh Police Superintendent Pankaj Pandey said Shahid was a resident of Azamgarh. Gujarat Police arrested Shahid under Indian Penal Code (Indian Criminal Code) 353/143 and 147 against him. This is a major achievement of the Gujarat Police.
Shahid said that more than one case was going on in different courts. I attend every hearing. I do not know when the court issued a warrant for this arrest.
