Trim throws at Jammu and Kashmir Secretariat after Article 370 abolishes

(PTI) Srinagar, Ta. August 25, 2019, Sunday

With the abolition of Article 370 by the Government of India, the privilege of Jammu and Kashmir has come to an end and with this the flag of Jammu and Kashmir has become a history. The flag of Jammu and Kashmir has been removed from the secretariat of Srinagar and now the country's national flag is being hoisted.

Until last week, both flags were flown together at the Secretariat, but with the abolition of Jammu and Kashmir's privilege, its flag, constitution and penal code have become history.

From now on, all the government offices in Jammu and Kashmir will have only the tricolors. Jammu and Kashmir had its own Constitution, Penal Code and Flag, but after the abolition of Article 370, only the Indian Constitution will apply and the Indian Penal Code will have to be followed.

In Jammu and Kashmir, there was a law prohibiting outsiders from buying land but the provision has been abolished as the nature of Jammu and Kashmir has changed. Since Jammu and Kashmir has been divided into two Union Territories - Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir - now the term of the Legislative Assembly will be five years instead of six.
