The minimum wage bill for the country's 50 million workers is passed in Parliament


With this, the old four labor laws will be repealed

The minimum wage bill, which touches the country's 50 million workers, was passed by Parliament today and issues like payroll will also be resolved, Labor Minister Santosh said on Thursday. The Code on Wages Bill 2019 was introduced in the Rajya Sabha with the intention of strengthening and amending laws related to issues such as salary, bonus. 85 members were in favor of it while eight members opposed it.

The law was passed in the Lok Sabha on July 8. The new law will come into force the existing minimum wage payments, the Wages Act, the Payment of Bonus Act and the Equal Remuneration Act. All these laws will be repealed after the new law goes into effect.

Putting the bill in the upper house and considering it, Gangar said, "Every worker's life should be honorable." This is a historic bill. This will benefit about 50 million workers'. The government accepted 17 of the 24 recommendations made by the Standing Committee at the time of drafting the bill.

The committee also studied the housing bill presented in the previous Lok Sabha. Responding to the debate on the bill, he said that all the workers in the country would fall under the minimum wage standard by then. He assured the house that the central government would not fix the minimum wage.

Speaking on the important issues of the bill, he said that the central government does not waive the rights of the states. According to the bill, the workers' salaries across the country will be decided by a three-party committee composed of labor unions, employers and representatives of the state government.

Speaking on one of the most important issues of the bill, the minister said that the law would also solve the problem of delays in monthly, weekly or even daily pay.
