Pramod Bhagat's Double Gold in World Para Badminton: Mansi Joshi also Gold

India's Para Badminton player Pramod Bhagat made history at the World Para Badminton Championships, winning gold in two categories: Men's Singles and Doubles. Mansi Joshi won the gold medal by beating Parrul Parmar 6-1, 6-3 in the All-India final of the women's singles SL-4 category. Gujarat's Parul Parmar has been a former world champion and he qualified for the tournament as a top seed. He received the Silver Medal. Mansi Joshi from Mumbai is also an original Gujarati para-badminton player.

In the World Para Badminton Championship held parallel to Sarvangano's Championship in Basel, Switzerland, Indian players won five medals in spectacular fashion. There were three gold and four silver as well as five bronze medals.

Orissa's top seed Pramod Bhagat won the gold medal by beating England's Daniel Bethel 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the final of the SL5 men's singles category. It was in this category that the Manoj government of India received a bronze medal. The pair of Pramod and Manoj won the gold medal in the men's doubles all-India final in the SL 1-4 category, defeating India's swimmers Dhillon and Nitesh Kumar. In the same category, Umesh Kumar of India and Thailand's Kitsichokwatana won bronze medals.

India's former world champion Tarun Dhillon had to recover from injury in the final of the Men's Singles category in the SL1 category against France's Lucas Mazur. He was 3-1 in the first game when the swimmer was knocked out. Sukant Kadam of India won the bronze medal in the same category.

India's Krishna Nagar won the bronze medal in the men's singles event of the SS1 category. The pair of Krishna Nagar and Raja Magotra won the Silver Medal in the Men's Doubles event of the SS5 category. India's Raj Kumar and Rakesh Pandey won bronze medals in the men's doubles category in the SU Five category.
