Due to heavy rains, the level of backward waters of Gujarat's Sardar Sarovar Dam was also increased as a village in Ghar district of Madhya Pradesh was submerged. On Sunday, the backwater reached 133 meters which is 6.5 meters above the threatening level. Thousands of trees, agricultural land and large portions of human settlements were submerged due to this.

Backwater is a part of the river which has almost no current and is created after obstructing the flow of the river due to natural barriers such as trees and dam construction.

The population of this village, which is two centuries old, is about ten thousand, and almost all of them, with the wet eyes, are looking at all the equipment and houses that they had inhabited and when they were a part of their lives. The village is situated on the banks of the river Uri Baghini and has been submerged for the last 20 days due to the water left in the Narmada Dam.

Devendra Kumar Kamdar, the leader of the affected people and the president of the local labor union, said, "On Sunday, about four km from Nisarpur, the backwater level of Sardar Sarovar Dam was 133 meters which was 6.5 meters above the danger level."

So an official of the Narmada Valley Development Authority of Madhya Pradesh government said, "Due to heavy rains, we release water from the dam in the Narmada river and its sub-rivers. The water level near Nisarpur was above the danger level.
