If Kashmir had a majority of Hindus, BJP would not have abolished 370: Chidambaram

New delhi date. August 12, 2019, Monday

The dispute is currently underway to abolish Article 370, which has been welcomed by most parties when former finance minister P Chidambaram had said that if there was a majority of Hindus in Kashmir, the BJP would not have abolished Article 370 nor would it have given its two divisions.

Article 370 was abolished and only because Kashmir has the largest population of Muslims. On the other hand, in response to Chidambaram's statement, the BJP attacked and claimed that Chidambaram was giving a communal color to the decision to abolish Article 370.

BJP leader and law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that Chidambaram had made a very objectionable and provocative statement on Article 370. The decision to abolish Article 370 has nothing to do with Hindus and Muslims.

While another BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that this is the mentality of the Congress, there is no need to look into the matter with Hindus and Muslims. The central government is currently moving towards development in the state and Article 370 has been abolished for the good of the people so that industries can be established and people are employed but Congress wants to give it a communal color which is not suitable.
