According to a new report by the World Health Organization, despite women making up 67 percent of the world's health sector, they are paid 24 percent less than men. A report called Fair Share for Health Care states that women are not able to invest enough money for their families because of the wage gap. Earning women spend up to 90 percent of their salary on their family, while men spend only 30 to 40 percent of their income.
Women do not get the importance they deserve for decision making in families. Women are at the helm of households in the health sector but are underrepresented in leadership roles. Medical specialists are dominated by men but the participation of women in the nursing staff is more than 90 percent. According to the report, women in India spend 73 percent of their time in unpaid work, while men spend only 11 percent of their time in unpaid work.
