MSME needed for 'self-reliant India': PM Modi

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched several new schemes for the country's micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the 'Entrepreneurial India' program. PM Modi said that MSMEs are playing an important role for a self-reliant India. We have increased the budget by more than 50 per cent in the last eight years to strengthen the MSME sector.

Addressing the 'Entrepreneurial India' program, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the MSME sector has played a major role in shaping a self-reliant India in the last eight years. The Central Government is taking necessary policy measures to promote small businesses. The Prime Minister asked small businesses to register on the Government Procurement Forum GEM (Government e-Marketplace) portal for the supply of government goods. "I want one crore new registrations on the GEM portal next week," he said.

Earlier, Modi had spent Rs. The Rs 5,000 crore scheme launched 'Ramp' (Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance). At the same time, he launched the 'Capacity Building of First Time Exporting MSME Exporters (CBFTE)' scheme to promote exports of goods and services. Apart from this, the Prime Minister also unveiled new features of PMEGP schemes.

Prime Minister Modi said that as India's exports continue to grow, the country's MSME sector needs to be empowered for Indian products to reach new markets. Our government is making decisions and formulating new policies keeping in view the potential of this sector, the immense potential of this sector. Now even the rank and file are getting loans without guarantee. Referring to the Corona period, the Prime Minister said that even during the worst crisis in the country in 100 years, our government did not give up on small businesses and worked to give them new strength. The central government had provided Rs 3.5 lakh crore to the MSME sector during the Corona period under the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme.
