What is the 'National Herald' case? This is likely to increase the difficulty of the Gandhi family

- The case relates to an 'equity' transaction: Sonia Gandhi and Rahul are accused of buying AJL's assets worth Rs 2,000 crore for Rs 50 lakh.

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (EDA) has filed a case against Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party leader Rahul Gandhi in connection with the National Herald case.

Simply put, this case is about 'equity' transactions. In which Congress President Sonia Gandhi has given Rs. Assets worth over Rs. He is accused of buying for Rs 50 lakh and swindling so-called money.

There are 3 names involved in this case. Associated Journals Limited (AJL) Young India Limited (YIL) and Indian National Congress.

In 2012, BJP leader and advocate Subramaniam Swamy filed a complaint in the following court. It was alleged that some Congress leaders were involved in fraud and betrayal by YIL in controlling the AJL. He alleged that the National Herald's assets were maliciously seized by YIL.

It is pertinent to mention here that in the National Herald newspaper 19, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru founded it along with some freedom fighters. Its purpose was to voice the concerns of the Liberal Brigade in the Indian National Congress. Published by the Associated Journals Limited (AJL), the newspaper became the mouthpiece of the Congress party after independence. Two other current papers were also published by AJL. One in Hindi and the other in Urdu. It was closed due to a debt of over Rs 50 crore by 2009.

AJL It was the product of Nehru's intellect. In 1917, Nehru kept the freedom fighters together as his 5,000 shareholders. That's how the company started. The company had no relationship with anyone in particular. The company had 1,09 shareholders in 2010. The loss was transferred to 'Young India'. Until 2006, AJL published 'National Herald' in English, 'Kaumi Awaaz' in Urdu and 'Navjivan' in Hindi. Jan. It was decided to resume those three dailies on December 12, 2016.

'Young India' was established in 2010 in which Rahul Gandhi was a director and Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have 8% shares. Congress leaders Motilal Vora and Oscar Fernandez hold 5% stake. Congress claims that this is not a commercial operation.

Other shareholders, including former law minister Shashibhushan, and former chief justice of Allahabad and Madras High Court Markday Katju, alleged that they were not even informed when AJL was bought by YIL. No notice was given, and the shares purchased by his father were transferred in 2010 without his knowledge or consent.

Subramaniam Swamy has named Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Motilal Vora, Oscar Fernandez and technocrat Sam-Pitroda in the National Herald case. Swamy says YIL had wrongfully acquired the property of a dormant print media outlet to acquire assets and benefits worth over Rs 2,000 crore. (Overcame it)

He said Rs 20 lakh was given for recovery of Rs 20.5 crore. The money received by AJL was also illegal as it was taken from party funds.

In 2012, the ED launched an investigation to find out if there was any money laundering. Sept. 18 The investigation was started again in 2012.

Congress says YIL was created for social service, not for profit. So there was nothing illegal in his dealings. Moreover, the transfer of shares was a commercial transfer, so the complaint filed by Swamy is purely politically motivated.
