Kanpur: Violence erupted in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh on June 2, and while the mastermind of the violence is being prosecuted, the administration has also started taking action against those accused of violence in other areas. However, the case of bulldozer being driven to the house of the main accused in Prayagraj's violence has reached the Supreme Court. Fourteen people, including a retired Supreme Court judge, have written to the chief justice seeking a hearing in the case.

The letter writers include former Supreme Court Judge B Sudarshan Reddy, Justice V Gopala Gowda, Justice AK Ganguly, former Delhi High Court Judge AP Shah, former Madras High Court Judge K Chandru, former Karnataka High Court Judge Mohammed Vashnira, former Shanti Mohammad Singh Vandira, Including Uday Singh. The letter raises questions as to what the courts need if the accused are to be punished by breaking into their homes.

On the other hand, the SIT, which is probing the violence in Kanpur, has come across evidence that the stone-throwers were brought in to pay for the violence in Kanpur. Evidence has come to light that violence in Kanpur was instigated on the same model as evidence of such stoning was found in Kashmir. The revelation came during the interrogation of Zafar Hashmi, the mastermind of the violence. Zafar's bank account is also being investigated. While there are other accused besides Zafar, the administration is preparing to turn the bulldozer over his house and illegal property.
