New delhi date. Monday 27 June 2022

The Indian Air Force has received 56,960 applications under the Agneepath recruitment scheme. The registration process for the scheme began on Friday, a week after violent protests against it in some states. The Air Force tweeted on Sunday, "56960! This is the total number of applications received so far from future Agneepath on the website in response to the Agneepath recruitment application process. Registration will close on July 5.

Introducing the Agneepath scheme on June 14, the government had said that youths between the ages of 17 and a half would be recruited for a period of four years. 25 per cent of which will later be included for permanent jobs. Violent protests against the plan took place in some parts of the country. Now with so many petitions, the question arises as to how much impact this opposition has had in the end.

Announcing several steps such as selection of firefighters

The government had on June 16 raised the age limit for recruitment under the scheme from 21 to 23 years for the year 2022. At the same time the latter announced some measures on his retirement such as selection for him in the Central paramilitary forces and the public sector defense department.

Priority is also given to joining the state police force

Some BJP-ruled states also announced that firefighters would be given priority in joining the state police force. The Armed Forces has made it clear that violent protests and arsonists against the new recruitment scheme will not be involved in the recruitment process.
