Prophet controversy: Violence erupts in another place in Bengal, internet services shut down

After Howrah district in West Bengal, violence has now erupted in Murshidabad as well. However, the police have taken over the front in the entire area and the culprits are being identified. In addition, internet services at Beldanga in Murshidabad have been suspended till 6:00 am on June 14 to curb rumors and illegal activities.

Tensions were high in Murshidabad after police tried to disperse a crowd organizing a protest rally in the case of Prophet Mohammad. Unruly elements also attempted arson. In the midst of all this, internet services have also been suspended in Beldanga, Murshidabad after Howrah and the order will remain in force till the morning of June 14.

The West Bengal government has decided to suspend internet services in some areas of Murshidabad district till Tuesday to curb the spread of misleading information. Internet services have been suspended in the entire Howrah district till June 13 and Section 144 of the CRPC has been implemented till June 15 in several areas like Uluberia, Domjur and Panchla.

Suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma and expelled party leader Naveen Jindal made controversial remarks on the Prophet Mohammad case. Protests erupted in several parts of Howrah on Friday, after which similar sanctions were imposed. Protesters set fire to police vehicles in Howrah and also damaged public property.
