Prophet controversy: mob attack on Hindu family outside India

The controversy over the remarks on Prophet Mohammad has sparked daily protests in India. Neighboring Bangladesh is also witnessing deteriorating communal harmony due to the dispute. The house of a Hindu family was attacked by a mob on Sunday. The attack took place in the Chitalmari area of ​​Bagerbat which made the situation tense and there is an atmosphere of fear among the Hindus living there.

Bagerhat police officer KM Ariful Haque said a mob attacked 33-year-old Deepak Sarkar's house in Chingari village around 2:00 pm. He said there was no loss of life in the attack as all members of the family managed to escape.

The assailants then blocked the road in Kunia area and started protesting. Police tried to control the situation by taking the Deepak government into custody but as the situation worsened, more police force had to be deployed.

SP Ariful Haque said the assailants were returning from a human chain organized in the neighboring district of Gopalganj in protest of the Indian incident.

Deepak, a 70-year-old neighbor of Bimal Sarkar, said there were hundreds of people attacking the house. The mob broke into the house and set fire to one part. Neighboring Hindu family members took refuge in the house of their Muslim neighbor Anees Rahman out of fear. Lenin Mojumdar, Biva Rani and some of Deepak's other Hindu podcasts said they were terrified after the attack.
