Next date Incumbent President Ramnath Kovind's term is coming to an end on July 24. The 15th President of the country will be elected before then. The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has fielded Dropadi Murmu for the presidential election. Opposition forces have also been swayed by the BJP's tribal card on the issue of support in the presidential election. Originally a tribal leader from Odisha, Draupadi Murmu has caused a stir in the opposition.

In the midst of all this, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati has announced her support for Draupadi Murmu. "We have decided to support NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu in the presidential election," BSP president Mayawati announced from Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh.

At the same time, Mayawati gave answers to any questions that may arise in support of the NDA candidate. "We have not taken this decision either in favor of the BJP or the NDA or against the opposition," Mayawati said. We have taken this decision keeping in view our party and movement.

Notably, the BSP is a party derived from the Dalit movement. The basic vote bank of the party is also Dalits. NDA candidate Draupadi comes from the Murmu tribal community. Due to this, the BSP was also in a dilemma whether to support Draupadi Murmu or the Opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha.
