Police on high alert today before Friday prayers in Kanpur

Kanpur, Dt

Police have been on high alert ahead of Friday's prayers in Uttar Pradesh's leading industrial city of Kanpur after a conspiracy was hatched last week after Friday's prayers. Section 12 has been implemented in Kanpur since Thursday evening. On the other hand, the conspiracy to spread violence in Unnao near Kanpur has failed and the conspirators have been investigated.

The city machinery and police have been on high alert this week after violence erupted in Kanpur after Friday prayers in the presence of President Ramnath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 3. Police have announced to enforce Section 12 from Thursday evening to prevent any recurrence of violence in the city after Friday prayers on June 10. The city has banned all forms of picketing in anticipation of the upcoming festivals.

In Kanpur, on the other hand, a hearing was held today on the remand of the accused in last week's violence. The court will rule on the remand of Hayat and his accomplices after a re-discussion on Friday. In addition, the SIT has started investigating the assets of Hayat Zafar Hashmi, the mastermind of Friday's violence, after he came across the fact of several bank account transactions.

Meanwhile, after the violence spread in Kanpur district, even in Unnao, on Friday, the system was running with posters to close the market. The posters were immediately removed as soon as the police got the information. Police are now searching for the culprits. On Friday, June 10, a poster was posted on a wall in Unnao about the market closing. Most of the Hindu families live where this poster was found. There are suspicions that someone may have hatched a conspiracy of violence in Unnao after the Kanpur incident.
