P. The Chancellor of the University in Bengal is now the Chief Minister instead of the Governor

An important change has taken place in West Bengal. The Chancellor of the University will be the Chief Minister instead of the Governor. For this, a special bill was passed in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly.
In the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, Education Minister Bratya Basu introduced a bill stating that the Chancellor of a state-run university would now be the Chief Minister instead of the Governor. Twelve MLAs voted in favor of the bill. Forty MLAs voted in opposition. The bill was passed amid a flurry of opposition BJP. After the approval of the Legislative Assembly, the head of state universities will now be the Chief Minister.
The West Bengal education minister, while introducing the bill, argued that if the chancellor of Kendriya Vidyalaya-Visva-Bharati could be the prime minister, then why can't the chief minister be the chancellor of a state university? He said the move was based on the recommendations of the Poonchi Commission.
Following the new law, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will become the chancellor of dozens of state universities. The current Chancellor of these universities is Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar. In West Bengal, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhad and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee have been at loggerheads for some time over various issues. The Trinamool Congress government has accused the governor of harassing the chief minister at the behest of the Center. The bill, which was passed amid differences, will again lead to friction between the governor and the chief minister.
