Maruti annoyed with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari's India NCAP decision, will stop production of these cars

New delhi date. Tuesday 28 June 2022

Maruti Suzuki is set to launch its all new Breza on June 30. This compact SUV has been much talked about before launch. It received 4500 bookings on the first day of booking. Maruti is all set to make its mark in the SUV segment.

Meanwhile, the company has made a big statement about its small hatchback. RC Bhargava, chairman of the company, said the government's policy was having an impact on his small car. The company will not hesitate to close them. Maruti's cheap hatchback will go beyond the budget of the common man due to the rule of 6 airbags in each car. The company may also consider closing this.

6 Airbags will not eliminate the issue of accidents

RC Bhargava said Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari's decision to implement the 6-airbag rule would increase the cost of small hatchbacks but would not help in resolving the issue of road accidents. The issue of deaths in road accidents has to be considered something else. He said the company does not make any profit from selling compact cars.

Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said the move to make six airbags mandatory in all cars was an important part of the effort to make Indian roads safer. Gadkari told a conference organized by a major eye company in Delhi that while India reports the highest number of road accidents and deaths, why is it not taking it seriously. We need to understand the importance of such decisions.

The big player in small cars is Maruti

Maruti is the number one car seller in the country. There is a gap of more than 50% between it and other top companies every month. Behind this gap is the demand for Maruti's small hatchback cars. Currently, Maruti WagonR, Swift, Cellario, Alto, S-Presso are in high demand. These 5 models generate 60 to 70 percent of the company's total sales. However, only 2 airbags are available in the base variant of all these models. If 6 airbags are fitted in the base variant, the price will go up to Rs 60,000.

India NCAP should not be mandatory: Bhargava

Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has approved the launch of NCAP. Cars manufactured in India will no longer have to go abroad for crash tests or safety ratings. But we will be given crash test and safety rating there. However, Maruti Suzuki chairman RC Bhargava said India should not make the NCAP test mandatory. He believes that India's market is very different from Europe's. The crash test rating is a benchmark in Europe, while here the benchmark system is only for the benefit of the rich.

The car is currently undergoing a crash test through the country's automaker Global NCAP. After which star rating is given based on their safety. Car crash tests around the world are being conducted by IIHS for Euro NCAP, ASEAN NCAP, Global NCAP, Australian NCAP, Japan NCAP, Latin NCAP, Korea NCAP, China China NCAP, USA. Now a new name India NCAP has been added to this list.
