Maharashtra's referendum: Uddhav resigns as Chief Minister just before the floor test

With the Supreme Court finally rejecting the Shiv Sena's plea at the end of the late-night hearing, the only option now was to face the floor test or resign voluntarily. He has resigned from the post of Chief Minister.

Uddhav Thackeray has also resigned from the post of MLC along with the post of Chief Minister.

In my last cabinet meeting, I am happy to announce that the city of Aurangabad will be named 'Sambhajinagar'. This has been the best decision of my tenure.

Thank you for cooperating with everyone from the state auto driver-head seller to the class but only the people of the house have cheated.

It was not my fault that I gave tickets to the MLAs of the Shinde group.

Governor orders floor test:

On Wednesday morning, Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari announced the convening of a special session of the Legislative Assembly. The governor has made it clear that his agenda is a no-confidence motion against the chief minister. Floor tests can be done by 5:00 pm on Thursday.


"The state of politics in the region is not particularly good," the governor wrote in the letter. The 39 Shiv Sena MLAs have already spoken of splitting from the Mahavikas Aghadi alliance. While 7 independent MLAs have also written a letter talking about withdrawing their support to the Uddhav government.

Some BJP and Independent MLAs had yesterday raised the demand for floor tesni.

Uddhav Thackeray in cabinet meeting -

In the cabinet meeting held at 5 pm, Uddhav Thackeray accepted the naming demands made by the Congress. A total of 4 proposals for naming were put in the cabinet.

Apart from this, the cabinet meeting thanked all the ministers for their support in running the government for the last two and a half years. "You have sided with me on the other side but my own men have stabbed me in the back," he said. Only Shiv Sena men have betrayed us.

Apart from this he said in the last minute that this is not my last meeting. We will meet later, we will work together.
