Kanpur violence: The main accused is suspected of receiving funding from abroad

Investigative agencies have expressed suspicion that Jafar Hashmi, the mastermind of the Kanpur riots, and his organization were receiving foreign funding.

According to sources, Rs 3.54 crore was deposited in an account opened in 2019 in a private bank on July 30, 2019. There is also an entry of 98 lakh deposits in 2021 and currently there is a balance of 1.27 crore in this account.

According to sources, the investigation agencies have received information about two other similar accounts. Crores of rupees have been transacted in these accounts in two years and now only 11 lakh rupees are left in them. These accounts were also opened in 2019. Police are investigating all the accounts.

Meanwhile, the place where the violence took place in Kanpur is now being monitored by drones. It is being checked that no stones or weapons have been deposited on the agacis in particular.

As many as 100 people have been identified in the Kanpur violence and 29 people have been arrested so far.

In Kanpur, mobs pelted stones at suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma for his controversial remarks on the Prophet Mohammad.
