IT department's tax return filing portal crashed again

New Delhi, Dt

The Income Tax Department's new-look tax return filing portal crashed once again on Tuesday. Interestingly, this portal, developed by Infosys, is flawed again after one year.

The portal was launched on June 9 last year, making it easier for taxpayers to file returns and claim refunds. But for several weeks he was plagued by mechanical defects. Now, one year back, some people who were creating flaws in this portal started questioning whether it has been hacked on the occasion of its anniversary. Many users complained that they could not log in to the portal while some complained that the portal's search feature was not working.

The IT department said in a tweet that the matter has come to our notice as the search facility in the e-filing website is not working. The IT department has asked Infosys, which manages the portal, to rectify the situation immediately. Finance Ministry officials confirmed that the data on the portal was not stolen. Coincidentally, Tuesday marks the first anniversary of the launch of the new Income Tax Portal. Last year, the portal went awry for a long time, prompting the IT department to extend the deadline for filing tax returns. In addition, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaram had slammed top Infosys officials over the issue.
