Heavy rains forecast in Arunachal, Assam: Landslide kills three in Meghalaya




Monsoon has arrived in several states of the country. The monsoon will reach Maharashtra in the next one or two days and it will rain across the country in the coming week. Earlier, the meteorological department had forecast heavy rains in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam. On the other hand, the heatwave situation in the northern Indian states will remain the same for a few days.
According to the meteorological department, monsoon has settled in some states of the country. Heavy rains in Assam have caused floods in many districts. Numerous people had to be evacuated. The meteorological department is still forecasting heavy rains in Assam in the coming days. Similarly, torrential rains are also expected in Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya. Three people were killed in a landslide in Meghalaya. The flood situation in Kahilipara, Jatia and Hatigaon areas of Assam has left many villages without communication. Many people were evacuated as the water level in several low-lying areas was still at dangerous levels.
In North India, on the other hand, there was no relief from the heatwave. In states like Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Odisha, Jharkhand, the temperature hovered between 4 and 5 degrees. These states will also have heatwave conditions in the coming days. The highest temperature in the country was recorded at 4.1 degrees in Faridabad, while Ganganagar in Rajasthan had the highest temperature in the state at 4 degrees. Bikaner recorded 4.5 degrees, Alwar 3, Hanumangarhi 3.2 degrees. The temperature in the capital Delhi will still be 3 to 4 degrees Celsius.
The meteorological department had said that the monsoon would reach Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha by June 15. However, in states like Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, the monsoon will not reach till the 18th. Temperatures are not expected to ease till June 15.
