Many countries around the world are working on the formula of 4 days work and 3 days leave. In such a scenario, Britain is now experimenting with a full-pay 4-day work-week system. The UK has launched a trial involving thousands of employees from 70 companies. It will include academics from the University of Oxford and Cambridge, as well as experts from Boston College in the United States.

The 4 Day-Week campaign said in a statement that more than 3,300 workers in the UK have joined the experiment, covering more than 30 sectors. They will give 80 per cent more time than before but they will be paid 100 per cent salary. These people will work to maintain 100 percent productivity.

According to week.4dayweek.co.uk, the measure of productivity is highly dependent on business-to-business. This experiment will last for 6 months. It will look at how employees' productivity and well-being are affected. However, the fact that employees will work fewer days does not mean that they will work less. They will work to maintain the same productivity as before.

Juliet Shore, a Boston College professor of sociology and lead researcher on the pilot scheme, said 4-Day Work-Week is generally regarded as a triple dividend policy for employees, companies.

- 150 companies worldwide will take part in the trials

Globally, more than 7,000 employees and 150 companies in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand have signed up to participate in the 6-month Coordinated Trial of 4-Day Work-Week.
