Electricity was generated by burning 12 tons of cannabis under the drug free campaign

A unique case has come up in Chhattisgarh under the anti-drug campaign. Electricity was generated by burning 12 tonnes of cannabis here. In fact, 12 tonnes of cannabis seized under the anti-drug drive at police stations in Bilaspur police range were destroyed by dumping it in the furnace of a power plant on Friday. Out of which 5 MW of electricity has been generated. This is a unique case of power generation by burning narcotics in the country.

Bilaspur Police Range IG Ratanlal Dangi said the drug free fortnight is being celebrated from June 12 to 26. Meanwhile, large quantities of marijuana were seized during the crackdown on drug dealers in all police station areas. A Drug Disposal Committee was formed to seize the drug. The committee prepared a list of narcotics and decided to dispose of them in a power plant so that they could be used as electricity.

According to information, in all the police stations in Bilaspur range, in 553 cases of seizure, 12,767 tonnes of cannabis, 13 nos.
