The online class method was adopted in the Corona era when lockdown was implemented so as not to affect children's education. While the children were studying through the online class, several advertising companies were spying on 89% of the children with the help of 164 applications through Android and iOS platforms.

When Human Rights Watch (HRW) examined apps and technology, it came up with alarming results. The children were reportedly being secretly monitored without permission. Significantly, the confidential information of 1.5 billion children in 49 countries, including the United States, Britain, China and India, was sold to millions of advertising companies for millions of dollars. About 70% of children were spied on by the Android operating system. Spying like this has been going on for the last 15 years through the app but it has seen a shocking rise in the Corona era. Advertising companies have sold this data of children to manufacturing companies and they will earn crores of rupees by launching product by studying the behavior of children.

Such applications endanger children's privacy and monitor children without parental consent. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) says it will take action against companies that monitor children illegally.

Find out which children's activities have been spied on

- From which area of the district the children are and how they behave.

- Where the children are, how long they stay in which room of the house, what they do on the screen.

- How long do you stay alone in the room or talk to friends.

- What children like to eat and how they sit during class.

- What kind of technology or product does the children's family have the ability to buy?

- Mapping of mobile keypad and keyboard sound was also recorded.

Government negligence

In the rush to get children to virtual classrooms as quickly as possible during the Corona period, the government did not investigate whether the technology or products being used in schools were safe. Playing with children's privacy is the result of this negligence.

Specially designed apps

90% of these apps are designed to send information to advertising-technology companies. 60% of that data was sent to a third party. The data was also shared on Facebook and Google which is being investigated. Apps were asked to allow access to cameras, contacts or others while children were submitting their work.

The children were shown the advertisement

During the online classes most of the platforms were making the children's data available to the advertising technology. In this way children were brought into the field of transaction based advertisements and in many cases children were also shown those advertisements. The children's IDs were also copied to track the data through the apps.

Smart use of smartphone required

It is true that app companies have all the information of the data and the data also reaches the third party. Until the data protection law is enacted in the country, it is possible to avoid it only by taking precautions. Thus, it is advisable to use the smartphone in a smart way and read the policy in the same way while downloading the apps. However app companies are also smart and they don't give away anything for free. It simply steals data from someone by a new method.
