The Delhi government will now fulfill its commitment to make the transport sector in Delhi comfortable to international standards. Under this, 1950 buses will soon run on the roads of the capital at Delhi. The cabinet has approved it today.

CM Arvind Kejriwal has informed about this through a press conference. At the same time, the Delhi government has extended the free ration scheme till September 30.

Arvind Kejriwal said, "The biggest problem is with buses. Now the Delhi government is buying electronic and AC buses. In this order, the Delhi Cabinet has approved the purchase of 1950 buses. These buses will start arriving in September and all these buses will arrive by September, 2023.

"Currently we have 7200 buses," he added. There have never been 7200 buses in the history of Delhi. Apart from this an additional 1950 buses will come i.e. a total of 4800 buses will be in service in Delhi. With this, many buses will get old in two-three years. We have to replace those buses. So by December 2024, we will have 11,910 buses running on the roads of Delhi. Given the population and transportation needs of Delhi, there is an urgent need for these new buses.
