The incident took place in Naik Nagar, Mumbai. As soon as the notification was received, a team of police and fire brigade reached the spot and the rescue operation is still going on. According to the information received, 20 to 25 people were reportedly trapped in the rubble during the incident. The rescue operation is still going on and most of the people have been evacuated. An NDRF team has also been called to the spot to help in the relief work.

Arriving at the spot, Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Aditya Thackeray took stock of the situation and said that the four floors were very dilapidated. People living in the building were given notice to vacate the building. Even though they were living there forcibly. This is the reason why the building has collapsed and people are trapped in it.

He also said that the building should be vacated voluntarily only when it was handed over to BMC. If this had been done, people would not have been harmed in this tragedy. We will find such dilapidated buildings and take action against them so that no one is harmed in the future.
