17 foreign women against Gundecha brothers In the High Court of the region

Fifteen foreign women have filed an intervention before the Jabalpur bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court seeking action against the Gundecha brothers of the Dhurpad Sansthan in support of the ICC's report on allegations of sexual harassment. The women who filed the affidavit live in the United States, Sweden, Canada, Poland, Spain, Austria and Germany.

The women who applied for intervention against the brothers of the world-famous classical musician Gundecha were at one time students of the Dhurpad Institute. The victims have filed affidavits before the Jabalpur bench through advocate Dhruv Sharma. The victims have accused the late classical musicians Ramakant Gundecha, Umakant Gundecha and Akhilesh Gundecha of sexual harassment. Foreign women have applied for intervention in support of an internal grievance committee (ICC) investigation report. The committee investigated allegations of sexual harassment against a Gundecha brothers of the Dhurpad Institute by a foreign student in the year 2020.

After the student's allegations, the president of the institute, Umakant Gundecha, said that an internal inquiry committee has been formed to probe the allegations. The ICC made adverse recommendations against Akhilesh Gundecha. Among other recommendations, the ICC recommended that the Dhrupad Institute form a board of trustees and increase the number of non-family members, as well as penalties, disciplinary action and compensation measures against the institution. However, the Gundecha brothers had filed a writ petition in the Madhya Pradesh High Court against the ICC report, which is scheduled to be heard on June 9. Now, 18 foreign women have filed an intervention petition in the Jabalpur bench of the High Court endorsing the committee's report.
