Tear gas fired on students in Colombo, 600 protesters arrested

Colombo: The situation in Sri Lanka is tense even after the declaration of civil unrest. Tear gas and water cannons were fired at university students protesting against the government in Colombo. Police rebelled to control the appearance on the roads with the demand for appointing the interim government consisting of all political parties.

The police arrested 600 people who have arrested 600 people in order to organize the performance. Sri Lanka is currently going through the worst financial crisis in its history, leading to a civil war.

A 36-hour curfew has been imposed across the country due to political chaos and instability in Sri Lanka. Police and defense forces are being called in to crack down on people taking to the streets against the government's economic and political policies. Protesters against the government are demanding that such an economic crisis and recession never occur in Sri Lanka.

People say that due to irresponsible economic policies of the government, people are suffering from power outages for hours now and there is a shortage of basic necessities. For this reason, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa issued a special gazette circular declaring a civil crisis as people staged a nationwide protest on Sunday.
