At least six people have been killed in Saudi airstrikes on two Houthi rebel cities

A Saudi-led coalition fighting Iranian-backed Huthi rebels in Yemen has carried out air strikes on the Yemeni capital Sanaa and the strategic city of Hudaydah on the shores of the Red Sea, destroying several Huthi rebel strongholds and killing seven people. The Houthi rebels attacked the Saudi city of Jeddah and blew up an oil depot, prompting an angry Saudi Arabian air strike on Yemen.
The Yemeni cities of Sanaa and Hudaydah are under the control of Huthi rebels. Huthi rebels have targeted many parts of Saudi Arabia in recent times. According to the Saudi Press Agency, a spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition, Brigadier General Turk al-Malki, said the attacks targeted Saudi farms. Footage circulating online shows flames and plumes of smoke over Sanaa and Hoodaida.
The Huthi rebels said the coalition airstrikes targeted a power plant, a fuel supply station and a government-run social insurance office in Sanaa. The Huthi media office claimed that the houses of the social insurance office guards were also targeted in an air strike. Seven people were killed in the attack. Port Salif, near the Red Sea, was also attacked during the Saudi airstrikes.
The Houthi rebels attacked an oil depot in the Saudi city of Jeddah on Friday before the start of the Formula One race. The rebel attack was the most high-profile attack ever. However, Saudi officials said the next Formula One race would take place as scheduled. Huthi rebels have recently attacked oil depots that were not targeted.
War broke out in Yemen in 2014 after Huthi rebels seized control of Sanaa. Several months later, Saudi Arabia and its allies launched airstrikes to drive out Huthi rebels and bring an internationally recognized government to power. The war has become a proxy war in recent years, killing more than 150,000 people, including more than 12,500 civilians. This war has also created the worst humanitarian crisis in the world. Hundreds of thousands of children are malnourished due to lack of food.
