Worldwide, confidence in the government and the media has waned

mso-bidi-language:GU'>New Delhi-Davos: Public confidence in the government and the media has declined globally in the last one year amid the Kovid -12 epidemic. Concerns about fake news reached an all-time high "Shruti","sans-serif"'>, themso-bidi-language:GU'>Global Survey said on Tuesday.

mso-bidi-language:GU'>The Annual Edelman Trust Barometer Report is released annually during the Davos Summit of the World Economic Forum. Businesses have replaced governments on the credibility front. Governments and the media come next.

mso-bidi-language:GU'>According to the study, 6% of respondents worldwide said that they are concerned about misinformation or fake news being used as a weapon. Spain tops the list with 84 per cent, followed by India with 82 per cent.

Respondents from themso-bidi-language:GU'>Netherlands ,GU'>Japan , France , the UK and Germany were not concerned about fake news. China topped the average in trust in NGOs , businesses , governments and the media, followed by India at fourth and Russia at the bottom.

mso-bidi-language:GU'>India was in the top five in terms of economic optimism. In terms of trust in the owner of the company, India was second only to Indonesia with 90 per cent after 91 per cent , while Chinamso-bidi-language:GU'>was third with 89 per cent and South Korea was last. Confidence in businesses , governments and the media in India has been declining. While the trust in NGOs was declining. Indians showed the most trust in NGOs and thus the NGO ranks third in this list after businesses and media.

mso-bidi-language:GU'>On the government trust front, India was ranked fifth aftermso-bidi-language:GU'>China , UAE , Saudi Arabia and Indonesia. In 23 of the 28 countries surveyed, people had more confidence in businesses than governments. More than 31,000 people were included in the sample size of this survey. Six thousand of them were more knowledgeable in the world.
