The BJP has refused to give a ticket to Utpal Parrikar, son of late BJP leader and former Goa CM and former defense minister Manohar Parrikar, in the Goa elections.

After that, Utpal Parikar has revolted against the party and announced to contest independent elections. Today, he said, "The decision to leave the BJP was a difficult one for me.

The Panaji seat has traditionally been the seat of Manohar Parrikar. Manohar Parrikar represented this seat for almost two decades, on which Utpal Parikar asked for a ticket.

However, Utpal Parrikar has quit the party after the BJP refused to give him a ticket for the seat. There is also a case of rape on Sagira.
