WASHINGTON: A massive volcanic eruption has erupted in Tonga, a country near New Zealand in the Pacific Ocean. The epicenter was reported below the Pacific Ocean floor, however; no tsunami alert was issued. Volcanic eruptions are now causing waves more than four feet high in coastal areas of the Pacific Ocean.

According to geologists, the eruption triggered a major tsunami. As a result, water levels have already begun to rise in coastal areas of Japan, the western United States and the Pacific Ocean. Satellite imagery of the eruption has gone viral.

According to satellite image, the Hunga Tonga volcano erupted 10,000 kilometers from Alaska with a huge roar. Due to which smoke and ash are spread in the air and due to this a gloomy atmosphere is seen in the satellite image all over the country. The epicenter was reported below the epicenter, at 5.8 on the Richter scale, according to the US Geological Survey.

Four-foot-high waves swept through coastal areas of Tunga’s capital, Nuku Alifa, and flooded many areas. Due to which all the people have left their homes and reached a safe place with elevation. The entire country, including telephones and the Internet, has been cut off due to the tsunami.
