PM Modi convenes meeting in the country, imposes more restrictions in the states

Outbreaks of corona have been reported in the country due to the Omicron variant and a third wave has started. Some states have begun imposing new restrictions to prevent the spread of corona. More than 1.5 lakh new cases of corona were reported in the country in a single day on Sunday, the highest in the last three days. At such a time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a high-level meeting on Sunday to review the situation. The country will start giving precautionary doses to Corona Warriors over the age of 80 from Monday.
As the number of corona cases is increasing day by day in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday directed the government to pay special attention to the preparations in the wake of the increasing number of corona cases due to omicron variants. He laid special emphasis on the Corona epidemic situation in the country, ongoing preparations for adequate infrastructure and logistics of health facilities, status of vaccination campaign and assessment of Omicron variant.
Prime Minister Modi had directed the authorities to speed up vaccination of minors. He also directed the Prime Minister to convene a meeting with the Chief Ministers to discuss the special situation in the state and the public health process. Prime Minister Modi said that continuous 'mass movement' is important to face Corona. The Prime Minister's meeting was significant as more than 200 employees working in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha secretariats and allied services were on strike in Corona in the last few days as the budget session begins in the country at the end of January.
Meanwhile, the third dose of corona vaccine, i.e. precautionary dose, will be given to health workers, frontline workers and senior citizens above 60 years of age as well as employees assigned for election duty in five states from Monday. Most of the states including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan have announced night curfew and other restrictions have also been imposed. Himachal Pradesh has banned social and religious ceremonies till January 9. Rajasthan has also announced closure of schools till January 15. Tamil Nadu on Sunday announced a one-day lockdown across the state.
Meanwhile, for the second day in a row in Maharashtra, more than 21,000 cases of corona were reported daily, with more than 12,500 cases reported in Mumbai alone. In Delhi, there were 2.31 cases of corona on Sunday and the positivity rate was 4.5 per cent. Also in West Bengal, 2.3 new cases of corona were reported on Sunday. In Delhi, there were 2,31 cases of corona and the positivity rate crossed 8%. In Delhi, four Supreme Court judges and five per cent of the staff have also been caught red-handed.
