Odisha: Union Minister closes room, beats officials, breaks one arm, hospitalized

A government official has accused Union Minister Vishweshwar Tudu of attacking him during a review meeting and breaking his arm. The officer's hand has to be bandaged and he has been admitted to the hospital.

The incident took place at Baripada in Odisha, the hometown of Union Minister Vishweshwar Tudu. Vishweshwar Tudu is the Minister of State for Tribal Affairs and Water Power at the Center. Vishweshwar Tudu is a BJP MP from Mayurbhanj and was made Minister of State by Prime Minister Modi during the cabinet reshuffle in July last year.

The Union Minister called a meeting in his office. Ashwini Kumar Malik, Deputy Director, District Planning and Monitoring Unit, and Debashish Mahapatra, Assistant Director, were called for the meeting. The event is Friday.

According to the victims, during the review meeting, the minister became very angry and locked the door from inside and attacked both the officers with a chair. Debashish Mahapatra's arm was broken in the attack while Ashwini Kumar Malik sustained injuries. Both the officers have been admitted to Baripada PRM Medical College.

According to Debashish Mohapatra, "The minister first told us that we had violated the protocol. We tried to persuade them that it would be inappropriate for us to go to their office with the files at the time of the Code of Conduct. But he got angry and started beating me. '

According to the Union Minister, attempts are being made to tarnish his image before the panchayat elections and these allegations are false and baseless.
