Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with the chief ministers on Thursday and asked them to be ready to face more variants of the Corona. He also advised to take care of people's employment while enforcing the restrictions and gave several directions.

The third wave of corona in the country is advancing at a rapid pace and the daily cases of corona are also steadily increasing. On Thursday, for the first time in the third wave of Corona, the daily cases of Corona crossed 2.50 lakh. Along with this, the percentage of active cases of Corona is also increasing and the positivity rate has now crossed 18%. On the other hand, the recovery rate has come down from 9 per cent to 7.5 per cent.

The relief is that vaccination has increased in the country. So far 150 million doses of Corona vaccine have been given in the country. For the second day in a row, the daily corona cases in Maharashtra have crossed 2,000. However, in Mumbai, 12,308 new cases of corona were reported, a decrease of 12 per cent over yesterday. In Delhi too, there were 2.3 new cases of corona and 21 more deaths. Along with this, the positivity rate also increased to 6.21 per cent. In Bengal, 2.3 new cases of corona were reported and the positivity rate has gone up to 6.15 per cent. Along with the increase in corona cases in the country, the number of omicron cases has also increased to 4.5.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday held a meeting with the chief ministers of the states to work out a strategy to counter the third wave of Corona in the country. At the meeting, the Prime Minister reviewed the preparations for health infrastructure in the states. At the same time he discussed many other important issues. The Prime Minister said that Omicron is spreading very fast compared to the previous variants of Corona. Our health experts are assessing the situation. The only way to deal with the Corona epidemic is to work hard and that is our only option.

He added that the Rs 6,000 crore package allocated by the Center for enhancing health facilities in the states has been put to good use. Many states have strengthened their health infrastructure. In India, about 5 per cent of the adult population has been given the first dose of the corona vaccine while the coverage of the second dose has also reached about 50 per cent.

"We also need to focus on maintaining the momentum of the economy as we fight Corona," he said. Therefore, more attention should be paid to local containment zones and employment of people should also be taken into consideration while enforcing sanctions. Despite the newer variants of the corona, vaccination is the most powerful way to combat the epidemic. In addition to facing Omicron, we also need to start preparing for other variants in the future.

Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Khadge and Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi have also come under attack. Congress leader Mallikarjun Khadge's corona test was positive and he was isolated at home while Jagdish Mukhi had to be admitted to hospital. Tests of 20 BSF personnel who reached Kotdwar in Pauri district of Uttar Pradesh from Gujarat to perform election duty have tested positive.
