The IED was found in an unoccupied bomb in Delhi's Ghazipur flower market, which was deactivated. On the other hand, five kg RDX was seized in Amritsar, Punjab on the Pakistan border. The IED was also seized from a pressure cooker kept in a sack at Khwaja Bazaar in Srinagar to target civilians. ISI and Khalistani militants are believed to have sent the material to detonate during the election.
On the 9th Army Day in the country, Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Narwane said that Pakistan is strong in its habit of harboring terrorists. ISI and Khalistani militants have been active in carrying out terrorist attacks in the country ahead of Republic Day. An estimated 200 to 300 terrorists are infiltrating cross-border terrorist training camps. In addition, Pakistan's spy agency ISI is also trying to smuggle weapons into India through drones. He added that the Indian Army is constantly striving for peace in the world. Even today, more than 5,000 troops are deployed in various peacekeeping missions.
On the day of Makar Sankranti, at 10.15 am on Friday, the police got information about an unoccupied bag near the gate of Phool Bazaar in Ghazipur. After that the market was in a frenzy. The market was immediately evacuated. When police officers opened the bag, it was suspected to contain IEDs. Under the supervision of the NSG, it was lifted by a robot and dropped into a machine and destroyed by digging a pit near the parking lot. The eruption was so intense that people in the area panicked. Police said the seized IED weighed about two kilograms. The forensic team collected samples from there. Other aspects, including the terror conspiracy, are being investigated after the case was registered in the special cell.
In Punjab, on the other hand, the Special Task Force (STF) has uncovered a major conspiracy by Pakistan's ISI and terrorists based in Pakistan to carry out bomb blasts during the Assembly elections. The IG said the consignment was sent to India through Pakistan's spy agency ISI for Khalistani militants based in Punjab. He suspects that at that time RDX was to be used in election rallies or crowded areas. The STF has detained three suspected youths for questioning. An anti-bomb team had to be called from Jalandhar to deactivate the IED.
The IED found in Srinagar would have caused huge damage if it had exploded. In Khwaja Bazaar, some people saw a pressure cooker in a state of disrepair. The police were informed about this. Police said there was a grenade in the pressure cooker. Most of the police and CRPF personnel also pass through this place during patrolling.
