The national flag made of khadi 'Tirango' will be hoisted on the Indo-Pakistan border at Jaisalmer in Rajasthan on Saturday to mark Army Day. The tricolor will be displayed at Longewala, the epicenter of the historic 1971 war between India and Pakistan.

The triangle is 225 feet long and 150 feet wide and weighs 1,400 kg. It took 70 khadi artisans 49 days to make the flag. The construction of the monumental national flag has given khadi artisans and workers an extra 3,500 hours of work. The flag is made using 4,500 meters of hand-spun and hand-woven khadi cotton flag covering a total area of ​​33,750 square feet. The diameter of the Ashoka Chakra in the flag is 30 feet.

This 5th tricolor of khadi will be waved

The tricolor was unveiled at Leh on October 2, 2021. This is the 5th flag made by Khadi for public display since then. The second tricolor was unveiled at Hindon Airbase on October 8, 2021 on the occasion of Air Force Day and at Red Fort on October 21, 2021. On the same day, the figure of 100 crore vaccination doses was completed in India. The national flag was hoisted at the Naval Dockyard near Gateway of India in Mumbai on December 4, 2021 to celebrate Naval Day.

The tricolor symbolizes the collective spirit of Indianness and khadi heritage sculpture. The tricolor has been prepared by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of independence under the 'Amrut Mahotsav of Independence'. It has been handed over to the security forces to display the flag at major places on historic occasions.
