The reason for the increase in costs this year is the high cost of raw materials, the person said on condition of anonymity. However, this is still under discussion and no final decision has been taken yet.

By making such an announcement in the budget just before the five state assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will try to woo the farmers who are protesting against the new agriculture law. Farmers have been protesting against the new law for more than a year. Half of India's 1.5 billion population, or 84 per cent, is dependent on agriculture.
