New Delhi: Three Indian companies have been included in the list of the world's top 100 arms manufacturers manufacturing arms, warplanes and other equipment.

Giving this information, the Swedish think-tank Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) has stated in its report Top 100 Army Producing and Military Services Companies-2020 that Hindustan Aeronautics is ranked 9th out of 100 companies in India. Sales of both have increased by 1.5 per cent and 2 per cent, respectively. The Indian Ordnance Factory ranks 50th, though its output has grown by only 0.2 per cent in 2020.

The total sales of all these companies are 4.5 billion (approximately Rs. 2.50 crore). According to the report, the total sales of the three companies accounted for only 1.5% of the total sales of the world's 100 largest arms manufacturers.

However, these companies were also producing during the epidemic. Therefore, the negative effects of the epidemic were relatively mild. In 2020, the Government of India decided to gradually reduce the import of about 100 different types of weapons and equipment to the country's arms manufacturing companies and to cultivate self-reliance in arms production. So the production of these companies is showing an increase.

Against this, one can be surprised to see China's progress in arms production. Today, China is the second largest producer of weapons and military equipment after the United States.

Five of China's five arms manufacturers are projected to sell લર 4.5 trillion in 2020. Which is 1.6 per cent more than the sales of 2013.

It accounts for 18 per cent of the total sales of the world's 100 major arms manufacturers. In this way, it is becoming the second largest arms manufacturer in the world after the United States, and it has overtaken Britain in that competition.

The report further states that China's ambitious program is the main driving force behind such huge development and it is also at the forefront of modernization. Five of China's top arms manufacturers are in the top 50. Three of them are in the top 10 (world). China's NORINCO is the 7th largest arms manufacturer in the world, ranking 9th in the world with sales of ૭ 12.5 trillion by 2020. Its sales grew by 12% in 2020. It uses emerging technologies and Beladon also uses the civil navigation satellite system. However, in 2020, its warplane maker AVIC (ranked 9th) saw its production decline by only 1.4 per cent, leaving its sales at ર્વ 12 trillion. China's CETC, the 7th largest company in the world, manufactures military electronics products. Its sales fell 4% in 2020.

These five Chinese companies, which are among the top 100 arms manufacturers in the world, make government-owned products for military as well as civilian needs. These five companies make the most profit from civilian sales.
